Details
Jesus instructs his disciples that as they bring others to follow him, they should baptize these new disciples in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey all he has commanded (Matt 28:19-20).
Why baptism? What is this practice really all about? Does it save you? Who should (and shouldn't) be baptized? This class seeks to follow through on Jesus' great commission by answering our basics questions about baptism.
Who is it for?
- Any student (grades 6-12) or adult who desires to be baptized at TPC
- Anyone who wants to learn more about our understanding of the meaning of baptism
*By registering, there is no commitment beyond this class. However, we ask that all seeking to be baptized complete the class.
**See below about children interested in baptism.
When is the class?
Whenever you want. After registering, you will be sent a link to an online course of short videos that cover a different aspect of baptism. After watching each video, we ask that you answer 2-3 short reflection questions to process the material.
When are Baptism Sundays?
Baptisms occur twice a year outside on the square and coincide with the McKinney Arts-in-Bloom (mid April) and Oktoberfest (last weekend of September) festivals. You will want to complete the class about four weeks prior to the baptism service.
What if my child (5th grade or younger) is thinking about baptism?
- You may first want to read this article: Is My Child Ready to Be Baptized?
- We equip parents to walk their children through the basics of the faith and baptism with two workbooks. Complete the Kids' Baptism Form to get in touch with our ministry leaders and receive your workbooks.
